Fall Sports Preview

Girls Volleyball - The Wolves enter the season with a younger roster but plenty of potential. Sophomores Aaliyah Jordan, Gurjeevan Kailey and returning varsity player Aimee Aguilar Briones, along with freshmen Alexia Aguilar Briones, Kayla Becerra and Ava Del Toro, will play key roles. Senior setter Noelani Hocson and senior middle blocker Mia Lopez, an All-League selection last season, provide valuable experience. The team’s goal is to make the playoffs, and with a strong group that supports one another, the Wolves are looking to be more competitive and make a run in league play.

Girls Flag Football - The Wolves are excited for another season of flag football, with the program expanding to add a freshman team. Varsity returns eight players, including senior captains Nayeli Ticas and Alexis Ross and returning starter Maddie Compton. Freshman Cassie Casanova will also make the jump to varsity. With a strong mix of returning experience and young talent, the Wolves are looking forward to another competitive season.

Football - The Wolves are looking to bounce back after a 3-8 season last year. The offense will lean on a strong run game led by All-League offensive lineman Teagan Betschart, while senior Mathias Valencia leads a young group of skill players that includes junior Jeffrey Meneses and quarterback Roman Gonzalez, who made his first varsity start in last year’s bowl game. Senior Abhiraj Dhillon anchors the defensive line. Livingston opens the season at home on August 28 against McNair.

Girls Water Polo - The Wolves return 13 players from last season, along with several newcomers to the program. The team got an early test with three scrimmages against East Union, Buhach Colony and Enochs on August 15 and is now preparing for the start of league play. Livingston opens its league schedule September 8th against Ceres.

2026 Livingston High Fall Sports – Football, Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Girls Golf, Boys and Girls Water Polo, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Sideline Cheer.

Volleyball – The Livingston Wolves varsity volleyball team is off to a solid start in 2026. After five total wins over the past two seasons, the Pack is off to a 4-3 start heading into Wednesday’s matchup with Modesto High School. With three sophomores and two freshmen on the varsity roster, along with strong senior leadership, the Wolves are looking to rebuild and compete in the Western Athletic Conference this season. The Pack has one more preseason match before opening WAC play on September 8 against Ceres High School.

Football – The varsity football team opened the season last Friday with a 34-14 loss vs McNair High School. After going into halftime tied 14-14, four second-half turnovers proved to be the difference. On the bright side, the JV team dominated McNair 44-0 to open the season 1-0. The Pack returns to action this Friday as they host Stevenson (Pebble Beach), with JV kicking off at 5:00 p.m. followed by varsity at 7:00 p.m.

Girls Golf – The girls’ golf team competed in the Merced High Girls Golf Classic on Monday at Merced Golf & Country Club. On Tuesday, the Wolves returned to WAC play with a dual match against Beyer High School. Livingston fell 259-273, with Elena Vazquez leading the Pack with a score of 56. The Wolves are now 1-1 in WAC play. The Pack returns to action Thursday, September 3, hosting Grace Davis at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course. First tee time is 3:30 p.m.

Flag Football – The Livingston High flag football team hosted small-school power Orestimba High School on Tuesday night, falling 26-0. The Pack will look to get in the win column Saturday when they host their tournament, with games against Golden Valley, Dos Palos and Hughson. Games will be played at the Stadium and Livingston High practice fields starting at 8:30 am. This will be the final tune-up before opening WAC play on September 8 at Ceres High School.

Cross Country - Livingston Cross Country competed in its first WAC meet Wednesday at Ceres River Bluff Park. The girls, led by top-10 finishes from Daisy Rojas and Alexa Gutierrez and a strong pack of runners close behind, narrowly secured a second-place finish. The boys followed with a third-place finish, led by Jesus Pulido, Juan Avalos and Claude Matos. In the JV boys’ race, Julian Gomez won the race to lead the Pack to a second-place finish and put the league on notice that the future is bright for Wolfpack Cross Country. The Pack heads to Monterey this weekend to compete against some of the top teams on the Central Coast.

Girls Tennis - The Livingston High girls tennis team lost to Beyer on Wednesday, September 9, bringing the Wolves to 1-1 in WAC play. The Wolves return to action Monday, September 14, when they host Grace Davis High School at 3:00 p.m. at the Livingston High tennis courts. Pictured below (right) is senior Saniya Clair.

Flag Football - The Wolves dropped a pair of WAC games this week, falling 19-0 to Ceres and 13-0 to Beyer. The Pack looks to get back on track this weekend as they travel to the Bay Area to compete in a flag football tournament in Santa Clara. Photo bottom left, sophomore quarterback Harnoor Jagait.

Football - The Wolves fell to 0-2 after a 35-14 loss to Robert Louis Stevenson of Pebble Beach last Friday at Livingston High. The Wolves struggled in the turnover battle, which proved to be a key factor in the game. The Pack will look to get back on track Friday as they travel to Gustine High School to face Orestimba. JV kicks off at 5:00 p.m., with varsity following at 7:00 p.m. The game location was moved from Orestimba High School due to track construction.

Water Polo — The Livingston High School girls water polo team lost atough match to the 4-0 Grace Davis Spartans on Tuesday, September 15. A strong second quarter by the visiting Spartans, who outscored the Wolves 5-0, proved to be the difference as Grace Davis took a 9-3 halftime lead. The Wolves battled back in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 6-4, but ultimately fell 13-9. Senior Lexi Perez led the Wolves with five second-half goals, while sophomore Isabella Juarez added four goals. On the boys’ side, the Pack rolled to a 24-9 win over the visiting Spartans. The Wolves were led by senior Kelvyn Edwards with seven goals and senior Aydan Ramirez with five. Aidan also chipped in with seven assists, while sophomore goalkeeper Roman Vasquez had eight saves. Both the boys and girls’ teams are back in action Thursday, September 17, when they travel to Central Valley.

Girls Golf — The Lady Linksters secured a 281-308 victory over the visiting Johansen Vikings on Tuesday, September 15, at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course. The Wolves were led by junior Elena Vazsuez with a score of 65. The win brings the Wolves' WAC record to 4-1, just one win behind first-place Beyer. The Pack has a bye Thursday before preparing for Tuesday's (9/22) WAC Mid-Season 18- hole event at Creekside Golf Course.

Volleyball — The Wolves varsity volleyball team swept the week of WAC play. The Pack secured a 3-1 win over Grace Davis on September 14 and followed it up with a 3-0 sweep of Central Valley on September 16. The wins bring the Wolves' WAC record to 3-1. The Pack will host second-place Lathrop on Tuesday, September 22.

Football — The Wolves varsity football team fell 42-28 to Orestimba High School on Friday, September 11. Despite the loss, the Pack showed strong signs of improvement, taking a 21-20 lead late in the second quarter. Orestimba's strong running game proved to be too much for the Wolves, but the Pack continued to battle and play hard throughout the second half, including scoring a fourth-quarter touchdown. The Pack has a bye this week before opening up WAC play on Friday 9/25 at Pacheco High School.

Flag Football — The Wolves rallied for a 26-0 win over Davis High School on Tuesday. The Pack was led by senior quarterback Alexis Ross, who completed 10 of 25 passes for 216 yards and four touchdowns. Maddie Compton had two touchdown receptions, while freshman Cassie Casanova and sophomore Harnoor Jagait each added a touchdown reception. Compton led the Pack with 106 receiving yards.

Girls Golf - The Livingston Wolves are right in the middle of the Western Athletic Conference championship race after finishing second at the WAC Mid-Season Tournament, the league’s first 18-hole event of the season. Livingston finished behind Beyer, earning 12 points for the second-place finish and bringing the Wolves’ league total to 16 points, just four behind Beyer’s 20. Elena Vazquez led the way for Livingston, finishing third overall with a 123, while Alia Strong finished fourth with a 125. Elena also made an adjustment on the back nine, improving by seven strokes. Gurleen Dhaliwal finished with a 145 and Elyse Arias shot 148. The Wolves have one more dual meet with Beyer before the WAC Championship, where the team title will be decided. The race will only get more competitive as the season progresses. The first round of league competition counts the four lowest scores, while the second round and WAC Championship count five of six scores, adding another golfer to the team scoring. With just four points separating Livingston and Beyer, the Wolves are in position to make a run at the league championship.

CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Realignment Update - Every four years, the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS) goes through a realignment process. The goal is to create a more competitive balance among schools and leagues across the section. On September 3, the SJS released its initial draft of the next realignment plan, which would take effect in the fall of 2028. One of the biggest changes from previous realignments is the emphasis on competitive equity. In the past, school enrollment was a larger factor in determining league placement. The new plan looks at several factors, including the overall strength of a school’s athletic program, playoff success, the number of sports/levels offered, and enrollment from the 2025-26 school year. The new plan also reduces the number of leagues in the SJS from 25 to 13. Each league will have 14–16 schools, divided into two groups: Capital and Valley league. Schools will have a Capital or Valley designation for all sports, with a separate Capital and Valley designation for football. Under the current proposal, Livingston would move from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) to the Central California Conference (CCC) and be placed in the Valley division for both all sports and football. For Livingston, the move would not dramatically change who the Pack competes against. Several of the schools in the current WAC are included in the proposed CCC Valley. Important to note that this is still a draft. Over the next month, schools will have the opportunity to appeal their placement or work with other schools on potential changes. The SJS is scheduled to consider the realignment plan at its December 8th meeting in Modesto. The final plan is expected to be approved in February of 2027, with the new leagues taking effect in the fall of 2028.

Football - The Pack is back in action tonight (9/25) as they open WAC play on the road at Pacheco High School. Both teams enter tonight’s contest coming off a bye week. Pacheco enters the game with a 1-2 record, with its lone win coming against Stone Ridge Christian and losses to Sonora and Dos Palos. JV kicks off at 5:00 p.m., with varsity following at 7:00 p.m.
